Posted October 02, 2018 15:06:06 A chef has been crowned the best chef in the world by the popular online dating site Reddit, with his or her pet cats and dogs kissing their customers.
In an online poll, the top five most-searched words from users who voted were ‘chef’, ‘love’, ‘chefs’, ‘best pet’ and ‘best cat’.
“I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like this in the history of Reddit,” Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian told ABC News.
He said the results were “hugely gratifying” and revealed that “this was not a one-off event”.
“We’re always looking to improve, we’ve always seen things that could be improved,” he said.
“The thing about this is that it’s been really rewarding and has shown a huge level of appreciation.”
It is the latest success story for Reddit, which is trying to expand into new markets and become more socially acceptable.
It recently launched a website called Chefs Corner which lets users vote on their favourite chefs.
Mr Ohanian said the “best pet” category was “an incredibly popular one”.
“The idea behind it is that the best pets are the ones that are closest to the owner,” he told ABC TV.
“I think cats anddogs are a great example of that.”
“So if you have cats and your dog, it’s very likely your cat will be more likely to do the cooking and your dogs will be the ones who are around to do all the cleanup and stuff like that.”
Mr Ohanyian said he and his team had been looking at ways to increase the number of votes on Chefs Center, but had not yet found the “perfect formula”.
“It’s still very early days,” he added.
“I think that if you look at the number one question that we get from people on Reddit, it seems to be really about whether or not the cat is going to be the best pet or whether or, really, is it the best cat.”
The poll also revealed the top three “favorite pets” were “cats”, “dogs” and “chefs”.’
It’s like kissing your parents’When Reddit users were asked to choose between a cat and a dog, they were asked which of the following had the most votes.
“Cats” topped the list with more than 12 million votes.
“Dog” was second with just over 6 million votes and “Chefs Corner” was third with just under 5 million votes each.
“If you have a pet, it would be very hard to choose,” Mr Ohanian added.
“But it’s kind of like kissing a parent and then going and getting a new one.”
