By the time he died in 2007, Michelin chef Michelin had become a global superstar.
The first Michelin star was awarded to a young Frenchman, but the accolade was never extended to a chef in the US.
In 2009, it was awarded a fourth star, but only after a lengthy delay.
It was only last year that it was confirmed that it would be awarded the honour again, and it was on Tuesday that the first star was bestowed.
As part of the ceremony, Micheler will unveil a statue of the late chef, who is credited with inventing a range of cooking techniques, including the famed “grill”.
The award is part of a $US40 million ($51 million) effort to commemorate the legacy of Michelin and to create a network of restaurants and a network, including a network that will bring together the best chefs from around the world to collaborate on cooking courses.
Michelin has been named as a world ambassador for the first time in the country, and will be part of an international delegation that will visit the US in the first half of 2019.
“Today we celebrate the life and achievements of the greatest chef of all time,” said Michelin’s executive director, Pierre Bourguignon.
“His vision and genius for cooking has inspired millions, both in the culinary world and in the world of food.”
“We have always known Michelin as the world leader in the design and development of the culinary menu and its presentation,” Bourguorton said.
“He will be remembered for his genius and passion for the art of food, and his contributions to the culinary community as a whole.”
In the years after his death, a number of Michelins restaurants opened in the United States.
But it wasn’t until the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave Michelin its first Micheline in the 1980s that the restaurant was allowed to sell food in the States.
The FDA is currently considering an expansion of the network that includes restaurants in Canada and Mexico.
The agency’s website said that the expanded network would “bring together the most innovative and high-quality restaurants in the entire world, so that they can share their passion and expertise with the world”.
The expansion will begin in 2018 and will include five Michelin-starred restaurants.
